Kantrow Spaht Successfully Represents State in Charity Hospital Arbitration

01.28.10 | Kantrow Spaht, led by litigation attorneys Richard F. Zimmerman, Jr., Randal J. Robert and Julie McCall represented the State of Louisiana, Facility Planning and Control in recent arbitration proceedings concerning a dispute between the State and FEMA over storm-related damages to Charity Hospital in New Orleans resulting from Hurricane Katrina. On January 27, 2010, the arbitration panel rendered a decision awarding the State $474.7 Million for damages sustained to the Hospital. The decision paves the way for the construction of a new teaching hospital and has been hailed as a major step forward in the redevelopment and economic rejuvination of New Orleans.
